Besides a very high mechanical loading capacity also wear resistance, thermal or electrical insulating properties and thermal conductivity play an important role. Simple standard components e.g. flanges, screws or grommets are manufactured from engineering ceramics because of its sophisticated material characteristics. Also specific bearing problems could be solved in high temperature environmental condition, lack of lubrication or attendance of highly corrosive atmospheres where standard materials are promptly failing.
